And if we are allowed to submit more than one - will you be open to funding more than one project from the same lead agency? - Oct 31 2024 at 7:21 AMCounty of San Mateo
A separate proposal is required for each project. Proposers may submit a proposal for multiple projects, but each must be separately submitted via OpenGov. 29. clarification re mental health Nov 19 2024 at 4:01 PM
- Anonymous Nov 19 2024 at 4:01 PMUser information is private
In the mental health priority area, we heard the county wants to "develop a county-wode and cohesive approach to improve mental well-being with a focus on decreasing disparities." Based on this, is it necessary for programs applying for funding under this priority area to serve the entire county? Or is it enough to, for example, strengthen the connection of a community service provider to county-wide resources? - Nov 25 2024 at 8:42 AMCounty of San Mateo
Programs applying for funding under the mental health priority area do not need to serve the entire county. It is sufficient to strengthen the connection of a community service provider to county-wide resources, as long as the program aligns with the overarching goal of improving mental well-being and decreasing disparities. Efforts should focus on addressing barriers caused by structural inequities, including but not limited to racism, sexism, classism, ageism, and homophobia. Strengthening these connections can play a critical role in fostering a more cohesive and equitable county-wide approach to mental well-being.

32. Direct Advocacy Nov 14 2024 at 3:38 PM

If funding is meant to support systems change, how can organizations characterize their efforts without falling into the category of "direct advocacy"? - Nov 25 2024 at 2:51 PMCounty of San Mateo

Could you expand on this Social Determinants of Health Project Example? - "Expand or sustain programs that give community members knowledge, skills, and opportunities to advocate for changes that impact community health" - Nov 25 2024 at 2:51 PMCounty of San Mateo
The examples are intended to give potential proposers ideas but projects are not limited to the examples. Therefore, an expansion of the example could include hands-on training in policy advocacy (ex. testifying at public meetings), interpret local health data and use it to highlight inequities and make evidence-based arguments for change, or ways to connect with local decision-makers and organizations to advocate for change.
34. Significant Expansion of Responsibilities Nov 14 2024 at 3:44 PM
- Nov 14 2024 at 3:44 PMCounty of San Mateo
What is defined as "without significant expansion of responsibilities" in regard to the eligibility criteria. Are you able to provide an example? - Nov 25 2024 at 2:51 PMCounty of San Mateo
The intent of Get Healthy funding is to allow for new and innovative projects; therefore, the potential proposer should keep that in mind when applying for funds. An example would be if your organization already provides mental health services, but this additional funding could help create a youth-led mentoring and leadership program to support mental wellbeing and connectedness, that would be considered an expansion.
