Overview
Summary
The City of Tampa’s Housing and Community Development (HCD) Division seeks to support the development of multi-family housing to address the needs outlined in the City’s Consolidated Plan. The City is seeking developer applications for the 9% tax credit.
The low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) program is the federal government’s primary policy tool for encouraging the development and rehabilitation of affordable rental housing. The program awards developers federal tax credits to offset construction costs in exchange for agreeing to reserve a certain fraction of units that are rent-restricted and for lower-income households.
Background
The 9% LIHTC plays a vital role in the production and rehabilitation of affordable rental housing across the United States and is an extremely successful and efficient method for facilitating the production and rehabilitation of affordable housing. Under this RFP, the City of Tampa is seeking to award Local Government Area Opportunity (LGAO) funding in an amount not to exceed the Minimum required by FHFC. For purpose of this RFP please assume $750,000; however, the actual award will not exceed FHFC minimum.
