Project Description:
This project involves several key tasks aimed at restoring and improving the exterior and interior of the Avon St. Salt Barn. First, the existing roof will be replaced with new roofing materials to ensure durability and protection from the elements. In addition to the reroofing, the building’s siding will be repaired, addressing any damage or wear to improve both appearance and structural integrity. The installation of new exterior trim will also be carried out to enhance the building’s aesthetic appeal and provide a finished look. A roll-up door will be installed to improve functionality, providing easy access to the space. Lastly, necessary interior structural repairs will be performed to address any issues with the building’s framework, ensuring safety and stability for long-term use. There are two additive bid items with this project. One involves installing some LED lighting and the other involves painting the newly installed siding and trim.
Background
Proper storage of road salt is essential for ensuring its availability and effectiveness during the winter months, when snow and ice accumulation can make roads hazardous. A well-maintained storage facility ensures that there is sufficient salt supply and reduces the likelihood of delays or shortages during critical times. Safe and effective winter road maintenance plays a significant role in community safety and economic activity. Ensuring that a community’s transportation infrastructure is well-maintained and safe during winter weather can reduce traffic accidents, ensure access to critical services, and keep businesses and the public functioning smoothly during harsh weather conditions.
